Help! I don’t have the gift of evangelism |
|
“He is so evangelistic. I think he would try and convert a fence post. He obviously has the gift of evangelism, but I don’t. Evangelism scares me, so what do I do?” How many times have you heard a fellow believer say something like that? More importantly, have you said it? Two ideas may transform your thinking and even fear of evangelism.
Recognize you are normal.
Giftedness in evangelism is not what characterizes most believers. Every gift is needed for the building up of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12). Therefore, the things that frighten you about evangelism frighten most believers. Evangelism is not first and foremost an issue of gift; it’s an issue of discipleship. The first thing Christ ever taught His disciples was “Follow Me and I’ll make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19).
Receive training.
Training is not an answer in evangelism. It is the answer. Evangelism training will help overcome the two biggest problems in evangelism – fear and not knowing how. Fear may take on many forms. Fear of not knowing how to turn a conversation to spiritual things. Fear of not knowing how to answer questions or objections. Fear of rejection. But that is where know how comes in. Training that provides the “howto” will help you know how to turn a conversation, address questions non-Christians have, clearly explain sin, substitution and faith (the three essential parts of the gospel presentation) and even know how to pray for yourself and the lost person to whom you are speaking. You may not realize it, but the most effective evangelists have received training. Giftedness in evangelism alone is not what makes a person effective. It is gift combined with training. That is why EvanTell specializes in evangelism training – training that is biblical, clear and complete. We have found, through more than thirty-five years of experience, that when people are trained properly, it forever changes their attitude about evangelism. Instead of approaching lost people with the attitude, “There they are Lord. Send someone to reach them,” we pray, “There they are Lord. Use me.”

Yes, evangelism is hard, well it use to be until I finally realized that eveything I had been doing for over thirty years was done in the flesh. It had been my own effort and strength. Suddenly, one day I remembered an evangelism plan I heard about thirty years earlier orchestrated by a local church called “bench ministry”. The plan was simple, go and wait, and let God bring the “drawn” to you. Well, that day I did just that…I went and waited and the results were awesome. So…I wrote the book The Philip Project to tell everyone about this God ordained plan to reach the “drawn”, John 6:44. Doesn’t it make sense to just let God direct those who He’s calling to us? Just like Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch God will use us if we are willing to “go” and wait. Try this simple plan and watch what God will do if you are willing to be used. This plan will bring God all the glory and honor because it is God who makes it happen. I don’t go out in the “flesh” anymore and leave casualties behind. Please visit the web site and leave me an email and tell me you saw this on this web site and I’ll send you a free book….all for the glory of God!!!
There is a healing to the entire nation as God would require. Beleive that this is just the fold of the anointing that we need to put us into the proper place, time and season. Once we as dinified saints gather into this manifestation then we would understand what it is like to be understood as Christ -like.Need more contact me.There’s a major major manifestation in God’s people right now and we need it.
These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring back to your rememberance all things that I have said to you. (John 14:26)
I believe training is okay, but I also so know that some he has called to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelist, and some pastors and teachers for equipping of the saints for the work of ministry. Whatever your calling is he will equip you.(esphesians 4:11)
Training and school will just enchance your skill, but utimately you can’t be just trained or taught you must be called!
See… I am called to be an evangelist I have never had any training except for the Bible… No manuscript Just the word, but the most important thing in ministry period is being led by the Holy Spirit because if you go to someone with just a manuscipt it can sound too mechanical….. John 6:44 Says No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him.
People are not drawn to God by intellect they are drawn by the Holy Spirit…. I want to say if someone is called to be evangelist or not and you just have a heart to tell people about Christ and win them to christ don’t be afraid you have a helper with you. Pray and and ask the Holy Spirit to give you what to say and let him guide you.. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but power and of love and of a sound mind.
Please here me clearly I am not saying don’t take the the training on evangelism it’s good to do those things… I’m just saying let God’s Word Be The teacher. preacher. trainer, lover, helper, giver, and whatever else you need, and always depend on the Holy Spirit…
Matthew 12:31 Says Therefore I say to you , every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men, anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
You see how important the Holy Spirit is God says in his word even if you speak against the Son of Man you will be forgiven, but if you blasphemy the Holy Spirit you will never be forgiven this is the Unpardonable Sin… I personally still would never speak against the Son of Man, however Jesus body was the sacrifice for our sin him being raised from the dead and taken to the right hand of the father is what got us the victory Jesus physical body could not be left with us because he took our sins but praise God for the Holy Spirit who Jesus spoke to the disciples about he would leave us with a helper.. So I know this is long I just love all God’s people and want them to know how powerful the word is So Just the Love The Father, Son, and The Holy Spirit because they are one….
God Bless You All and The People that designed this website.
It seems we can go to either of two extremes with this discussion (like most other discussions): one, we can say that the business of evangelism should be left to the ‘experts’ – those gifted by the Spirit; two, we can say that everyone should be out there preaching to everyone they meet. Neither is very realistic, scriptural or helpful. The truth is that there are those who are gifted, and they are better at it. This is also true of giving, serving, praying, etc. We don’t stop giving, serving or praying just because others seem to be better than we. No, strive to do those things as well as the grace of God allows. Why would sharing the good news of Jesus, our Master, be any different? I’m gifted to preach and teach, but that doesn’t excuse me from the responsibility to share with someone when the Lord brings me to an opportunity. Training is discipleship. If we are being trained to be like Jesus and advance His kingdom by faith and grace, then I say do it with all your heart!
